SCSU fills football coaching roster
With the start of spring practice just two weeks away, South Carolina State University filled its remaining football coaching vacancies for the 2006 season by rehiring a former assistant and bringing aboard two newcomers. Pough confirmed the return of C.J. Frye, the son of University of South Carolina track and field head coach Curtis Frye and former Gamecock defensive tackles.

NCAA penalizes Rattlers
In his first stint as Florida A&M University Athletic Director, Nelson Townsend chastised football powerhouses such as Alabama for using African-American student-athletes to win championships but not making sure they left with degrees. Now 20 years later in Townsend's second stint as FAMU's athletic director, it is his institution that must answer for its own shortcomings in graduating student-athletes.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Mar. 1) – The NCAA announced Wednesday that the Florida A&M University athletic program will lose additional scholarships as a result of its’ performance in the 2004-05 Academic Progress Report, released Wednesday.

Athletic Director, Athletes Discuss Future
Students involved with Howard's various athletic programs met with athletic director Dwight Datcher. The last Meet the Director of Athletics Forum was hosted by HU's Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC) chapter. Datcher created a relaxed environment as he joked with student-athletes and laid out his four-part agenda with Howard athletics.
