Duquesne practice opens with questions about starting QB
On the first day of spring football practice, Duquesne coach Jerry Schmitt answered the first question about his team with a laugh. "Quarterback controversy? What quarterback controversy," he said. "What we have is a quarterback competition."

Marist Football Names 2006 Captains
The Marist football program announced Wednesday that four seniors have been named as captains for 2006. They are: defensive lineman Tim Aulet (Pomona, N.Y.), safeties Huck Correia (Pittsfield, Mass.) and Nick Salis (Nashua, N.H.) and wide receiver Prince Premeph (Hamilton, N.J.).

Miller named La Salle's new coach
Tim Miller was named the head football coach at La Salle University yesterday, according to athletic director Tom Brennan. Miller, who served as linebackers coach last season - his first with the Explorers - takes over for Phil Longo, who resigned on Feb. 28 to become the offensive coordinator at Minnesota-Duluth.

Wrabley joining Dukes
With his parents, Ray and Sue Wrabley, in tow and a few quick strokes of a pen, Richland senior Chris Wrabley signed a letter of intent on Wednesday to play football at Duquesne University, which competes in Division I-AA.

Marist Names White Head Strength Coach
Marist Director of Athletics Tim Murray announced Tuesday that Craig White has been hired as the department's head Strength and Conditioning Coach. In that role, White will organize and implement training programs for each of the Red Foxes 23 Varsity sports.

"Prayers for Preston" Message Board
On Saturday, November 5th La Salle freshman linebacker Preston Plevretes sustained a devasting hit while covering a punt toward the end of the Explorers game at Duquesne. The hit caused a substantial brain injury which produced swelling and bleeding that required surgery to alleviate. It was later discovered that during the time between suffering the hit and being rushed to the hospital in Pittsburgh he also suffered a stroke.
