Georgia Southern Highlights I-AA Coaching Changes
When the most-storied program in I-AA football joins the list of programs with a new coaching staff, you know the coaching carousel spun fast and hard this offseason. The dismissal of Mike Sewak and the hiring of Brian VanGorder at Georgia Southern was the big story in an active offseason which has seen 18 coaching changes, with one still to come after LaSalle head coach Phil Longo left to become an offensive coordinator at Minnesota-Duluth this week.

Terry Wanless Named To I-AA FB Committee
Sacramento State Director of Athletics Terry Wanless has been named to the Div. I-AA Football Committee. Wanless, who is in his fourth year at Sacramento State, is one of eight administrators on the committee — two from each of the four regions.

Economic Impact From Local Sports Events Tops $23.8 Million For 2005
The Greater Chattanooga Sports and Events Committee estimated that economic impact generated from sporting events held in Chattanooga in 2005, surpassed the $23.8 million mark. The Sports Committee estimates direct visitor spending at $23,832,000, breaking the record of $23.6 million set in 2002.

Title game boosts Chattanooga sports economy
A late nudge from thousands of North Carolinians and Iowans pushed Chattanooga to a record in 2005. The Greater Chattanooga Sports and Events Committee has estimated that state, regional and national sporting events held in the Chattanooga area pumped a record $23.8 million into the local economy.

City eyes sellout in effort to solidify I-AA game
University of Northern Iowa fan Bob Justis flew into Chattanooga Tuesday night from Cedar Falls, Iowa, about 830 miles away, to cheer on the Panthers in their first-ever trip to the NCAA Division I-AA football championship game. "We’re very excited," he said. "It’s been the talk of the state."
